TOM BAKER'S U.S. VISITS/APPEARANCES 1972: Nicholas & Alexandra publicity tour 1979: FIRST EVER DR. WHO CONVENTION IN THE UNITED STATES. [25 YEARS AGO THIS FALL]. THE DOCTOR WHO CONVENTION was held on Saturday, December 1, 1979, at the legendary Sunset Hyatt Hotel. It was produced by The Gallifreyan Irregulars. In addition to Tom Baker and Graham Williams, guests included Gerry Davis, Harlan Ellison and DW record producer Don Gallacher. The expected attendance of 300 ballooned to over 1,000 when news of Tom's arrival, with only 24 hours' notice, was released. The next day, an autograph signing was held at Malibu beach.* ___________________________________________________
